Glossary. Lending and documentation

Condition precedent

Condition precedent

A requirement in a loan agreement that must be met before the lender releases any funds.

Usage: Use "CPs" once. In legal Arabic:

Source of the Arabic term: Editorial choice where no official term exists

Why a lender reads this

A loan agreement turns these words into dates and money. When one is misread, a drawdown slips or a disbursement stops at a condition nobody planned for. A lender reads each as an obligation with a document behind it.
